I know you have hundreds more blogs to visit so let's dive straight into what I cooked up with the bead soup sent by my partner, Donna Cruz-Comia from the Philippines.
Donna is a gifted polymer clay artist - she made a beautiful polymer clay focal and several beads for me as well as sending a collection of pearls, amber and green glass beads, brass connectors and clasp and a huge crocheted flower.
I loved the polymer clay beads and mentioned in an earlier post that they gave off a very 'woodland Midsummer Night's Dream' vibe. I came up with a set of matching necklace, bracelet and earrings that I hope wouldn't look out of place on Titania or any woodland sprite.
A close-up of the necklace:
As in previous BSBPs, I challenged myself to learn and use a new technique - so this time round I went with a little chain maille that I used to cage the pearls.
I then made an additional, more casual bracelet using macrame. I used Swarovski crystals and a decoupaged button from my stash for this piece. I don't know...maybe Puck might want to wear it? Nah, it's probably a little too girly :-).
And finally, we come to the crocheted flower. I have to admit - I was at a total loss as to what to create with it. I have never worked with anything crocheted. Then inspiration struck on Wednesday when I was rummaging in my bead stash. I got distracted by some odds and ends and the end result was this:
Yes, I took the easy way out and made a hanging ornament. I figured it might look pretty hanging off a Christmas tree - I'll probably gift it to a friend come December. The little flowers around the edges are actually brads, if anyone's curious.
So that's what I made with Donna's bead soup. All I have left are two tiny green beads. A huge thank-you goes out to Lori Anderson for pairing us up and for organizing this amazing party, despite all her health challenges.
Right, that's me done. Let's go visit the other BSBP participants, shall we?

Great assortment of pieces. I think that the crocheted piece would make a great brooch.
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous designs, Adlinah... I am very fond of little crocheted bits and I think you used it wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pieces. I love the woodland necklace!
ReplyDeleteLove the chain maille idea! What a unique way to string the pearls together. Very cool! Beautiful pieces and you have given the woodland theme a modern edgy look. Love it. The macrame bracelet is beautiful too. What you did to the crochet flower is wonderful. In my opinion it looks like a lovely brooch too. Great job with the lovely beads you were given.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as usual, you're very talented :D

ReplyDeleteAll your pieces are lovely and it was so fun to see the mix of materials and techniques you used to pull them all together!
You rocked it! I love the integrity of your pieces, and the artistry. as well, your crocheted flower made me cry a little as it is a very sentimental and totally sweet piece! Well done! jean
